2013 Burton Ranch Old Vine Zinfandel

2013 Burton Ranch Old Vine Zinfandel

Wonderful crimson in color with a pronounced bouquet of mulberry, spiced plum and pepper.   Followed by a palate of elegant concentrated black and red fruit with a touch of sweet spice. The finish is extended and extremely well balanced.

*THE TOP 10 ZINFANDELS TASTED IN 2015 - Dec 2015, The Zinfandel Chronicles

*Zinfandel Chronicles - Oct 2015, 92pts "The wine is crimson in color and checks in at 14.5% ABV. Black fruits, spiced plums and pepper on the nose. Medium body with mouth watering acidity. The fruit here is elegant and understated. Blackberry, raspberry, cocoa powder and black pepper on the palate. Super finish. Claret style Zinfandel at it’s finest. Drink over the next 2-4 years.

*Wine Spectator – Web 2016, 90pts “Zesty and jammy, with appealing aromas of pepper and raspberry pie, and ripe, layered flavors of cherry, licorice and toasty spice that linger. Drink now through 2022."

*eRobertParker.com #223 – March 2016, 89pts “From Lake County, the 2013 Zinfandel Old Vine Burton Ranch exhibits supple tannins, terrific raspberry and black cherry fruit, a soft succulence, and a round, juicy mouthfeel. This is a pretty and classy Zinfandel for drinking over the next 4-5 years.”

Connoisseurs' Guide to CA Wine - May 2016, 89pts "A very solid Zinfandel that consistently keys on well-ripened, berry-like fruit with a nicely placed complement of creamy oak for added richness, this bottling shows a very strong varietal signature that lifts it above its two mates and sports a little more tactile polish than either. While its integral tannins provide a bit of structural firmness, they do so without imparting undue astringency, and, if the wine will hold up and evolve for several years, it can be enjoyed in the short term as a tasty foil to slow-roasted pork ribs and hearty, well-seasoned sausages hot off the grill."
